A RECENTLY DISCOVERED PAINTING: "The Finding of Moses" by Jacob van Loo

This beautiful painting, which has recently come to light in an Anglo-Scottish collection, was completely unrecorded in art historical literature.  Executed in 1654, when van Loo was at the pinnacle of his career and working for a wealthy Amsterdam clientele, it exemplifies his elegant, courtly style. Van Loo made his name as a painter of wonderfully sensual nudes, and so it is for this that he is best remembered today.   To view a full description click here
